Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo confirms technical regulations and changes for 2012 season

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series has confirmed its format and regulations for the 2012 season, following the earlier announcement that the ‘fastest single make series in the world’ would not only continue in Europe but a second, sister series will launch in Asia.

For 2012, new driver categories mean that only gentlemen drivers, holding Bronze or Silver FIA classifications may participate, either racing singly or with a co-driver. Pro drivers will no longer be eligible to compete.

In order to ensure maximum time in the car and familiarity with circuits, a new race format allows for more time on track for drivers and teams. Race weekends will now comprise of two 60-minute free practice sessions, one 40-minute qualifying session and two races of 50 minutes each. A similar format will run in Asia with minor technical changes to meet local regulations.

Blancpain, the world’s longest established luxury watchmaker, will continue its successful partnership with Lamborghini for 2012 and 2013, both in Europe and Asia.

The technical specification for the Super Trofeo race car will be the same for Europe and Asia. Although tyre changes are not permitted in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, the car will be updated to feature a single wheel nut, which will allow for faster pit stops when entered in other endurance races.

Il Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo conferma il nuovo format gare per la stagione 2012

Dopo il recente annuncio che conferma la continuità in Europa e il debutto in Asia del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo nel 2012 e 2013, viene ora annunciato il nuovo format gare della “serie monomarca più veloce al mondo”.

Per la stagione 2012 solamente i gentleman driver di livello Bronze e Silver secondo la classificazione FIA potranno partecipare al campionato, gareggiando singolarmente o con un co-pilota. Non saranno pertanto più ammessi i piloti professionisti.

Allo scopo di offrire una maggiore familiarità con i circuiti, il nuovo formato gare permetterà ai piloti gentlemen di trascorrere più tempo in pista al volante della Gallardo Super Trofeo. I weekend di gara saranno articolati su due sessioni di prove libere da 60 minuti, una sessione da 40 minuti per le qualifiche e due gare da 50 minuti ciascuna. Un formato analogo è previsto anche in Asia, con lievi modifiche in ottemperanza alle esigenze locali.

Blancpain, prestigiosa maison di alta orologeria più antica al mondo, sarà nuovamente partner di Lamborghini per il 2012 e il 2013 in entrambe le serie europea ed asiatica.

Le specifiche tecniche della vettura da gara del Super Trofeo saranno le stesse per l'Europa e per l'Asia. Sebbene il cambio gomme non sia consentito nelle competizioni Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, la vettura sarà dotata di cerchi monodado, per consentire pit stop più veloci nel corso delle gare endurance.

Automobili Lamborghini e Blancpain hanno confermato il calendario provvisorio del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo 2012 ed hanno inoltre annunciato una nuova serie di competizioni in Asia, che si aggiungerà a quella europea. Sulla scia del grande successo ottenuto da quest’ultima, il campionato asiatico Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo debutterà a Sepang, in Malesia, nel maggio del 2012 e continuerà con altri 5 weekend di gare in Giappone, Cina e Taiwan.

Il calendario provvisorio del 2012 delle gare europee prevede 6 weekend, il primo in Italia e i successivi su circuiti leggendari come Spa-Francorchamps in Belgio e Silverstone nel Regno Unito.

Il formato delle gare del prossimo anno è attualmente al vaglio di sponsor, team e piloti al fine di concordare un regolamento 2012 sia per l’Europa sia per l'Asia. È già stato confermato un incremento del tempo a disposizione su pista durante il weekend di corse, in modo da consentire ai piloti di prendere una maggiore familiarità con i circuiti, e si prevede inoltre una riorganizzazione delle categorie dei piloti. Attualmente, piloti professionisti e non gareggiano fianco a fianco e hanno a disposizione un minimo di 30 minuti di prove libere, 30 minuti di sessioni di qualifica e tre gare da 40 minuti durante ogni weekend.

I partecipanti alla competizione avranno inoltre l’opportunità di vivere appieno il mondo del Super Trofeo attraverso una serie di eventi su pista e non, organizzati durante l’anno da Lamborghini.

Le specifiche tecniche della supersportiva da corsa Super Trofeo, “figlia” della Gallardo LP 570-4, saranno le stesse per Europa e Asia. Sebbene il cambio gomme non sia consentito nelle competizioni Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, la vettura sarà dotata di cerchi monodado, per consentire pit stop più veloci nel corso delle gare endurance. La Super Trofeo destinata all'Asia sarà inoltre dotata di aria condizionata.

Blancpain, il produttore di orologi più antico del mondo, sarà nuovamente partner di Lamborghini per i prossimi due anni in entrambe le serie europea ed asiatica.

Lamborghini And Blancpain Announce Calendars For 2012 Race Series In Europe And Asia‏

Automobili Lamborghini and Blancpain have confirmed the provisional 2012 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo calendar and also announced a new series in Asia to run alongside the established European competition. Building on the series’ success, the Asian Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will debut in Sepang, Malaysia in May 2012 with five further race weekends across Japan, China and Taiwan.

The provisional 2012 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo European calendar will comprise of six race weekends, commencing in Italy and visiting legendary circuits such as Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, and Silverstone, UK.

The series format for next year is also currently under discussion with sponsors, teams and drivers in order to agree 2012 regulations for both Europe and Asia. Additional track time during race weekends has already been confirmed to ensure better familiarisation with circuits, and a review of driver categories will also take place. Currently, professional and gentlemen drivers compete side by side with a minimum 30-minute free practice, 30-minute qualifying session and three 40-minute races during race weekends.

Series participants will also have the opportunity to experience the world of Super Trofeo through a series of track and lifestyle events organised during the year by Lamborghini.

The technical specification for the Super Trofeo race car, a derivative of the Gallardo LP 570-4, will be the same for Europe and Asia. Although tyre changes are not permitted in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, the car will be updated to feature a single wheel nut, which will allow for faster pit stops when entered in endurance races. The Asian Super Trofeo will also be equipped with air conditioning.

Si Chiude La Lotta Per Il Titolo Lamborghini

La lotta per il titolo piloti Pro-Am del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo 2011 si è protratta fino all’ultima delle 18 gare della stagione, a conferma della grande competitività della serie monomarca. Dopo l’ultima bandiera a scacchi, è stato lo svizzero Cédric Leimer a vincere il titolo della classifica piloti Pro-Am a Barcellona, in Spagna, il giorno 30 ottobre 2011, salendo sul podio insieme ad Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L., che ha vinto il titolo di miglior team.

A inizio weekend il talentuoso pilota gentleman C. Leimer era uno dei tre contendenti al titolo, insieme all’italiano Matteo Zucchi e all’austriaco Gerhard Tweraser, ma una vittoria e due secondi posti gli sono valsi il titolo di campione.

A partecipare alla cerimonia di premiazione c’era l’italiano Fabio Babini, che si è guadagnato il titolo piloti Pro 2011 durante il penultimo weekend di gara a Hockenheim.

Tra i nomi nuovi di questa finale di stagione si annoverano Bernhard Delhez e Dimitri Enjalbert del Campionato europeo FIA GT3, che hanno iniziato la loro esperienza nel Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo con stile, centrando la vittoria in gara 1. Insieme a loro il francese Romain Bernard, giornalista di Auto Hebdo, che è salito sul podio in gara 2 affiancando il collaudatore ufficiale della Lamborghini Giorgio Sanna.

Hanno partecipato al Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo in Spagna anche Carmen Jorda, che ha gareggiato in Indy Lights, e l’italiana della serie Superstars Francesca Linossi: quest’ultima ha guadagnato gli ultimi importantissimi punti che servivano ad Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. per vincere il titolo della classifica a squadre.

“Sono molto felice di aver vinto il Campionato Pro-Am,” ha commentato C. Leimer. “Questa vittoria è stata una sorpresa, all’inizio del weekend ero convinto di arrivare secondo o terzo.”

“Non ho ancora realizzato del tutto di essere campione. Voglio ringraziare tutto il team di Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter per il supporto che mi ha dato nel corso di questa stagione.”

Sessione di qualifica
Il duo del team Reiter, composto da Peter Kox e Nico Pronk, ha conquistato la pole position durante le qualifiche facendo segnare il miglior tempo di 1:52.789, mentre Zucchi ha incrementato le sue possibilità di vittoria nella corsa al titolo Pro-Am centrando il secondo posto in griglia insieme a Babini.

Gara 16
La coppia di debuttanti, composta da Enjalbert e Delhez, ha sorpreso tutto il pubblico del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo tagliando per prima il traguardo della sua prima gara disputata nella serie. Partendo dal sesto posto in griglia, Delhez ha guadagnato terreno portandosi in terza posizione prima dell’apertura dei pit.

Quando Enjalbert si è messo alla guida della vettura, è passato in seconda posizione alle spalle di C. Leimer, che era al comando nonostante una penalità di passaggio ai box scontata in precedenza. Il concorrente francese ha sorpassato il suo avversario svizzero a due giri dalla fine conquistando il primo posto, mentre Kox e Pronk, che partivano dalla pole position, tagliavano il traguardo in terza posizione.

“Un risultato fantastico, specialmente se si considera che sono sei mesi che non gareggio,” ha commentato Enjalbert. “Sia Bernard che io adoriamo le vetture Lamborghini, quindi venire qui e vincere ci regala una sensazione bellissima.”

Gara 17
In un finale incerto e spettacolare, C. Leimer del team Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter si è guadagnato la vittoria in gara 2 con solo 0.064 secondi di vantaggio sul secondo, e spodestando Zucchi dalla cima della classifica Pro-Am, dopo il ritiro di quest’ultimo a causa di problemi tecnici al radiatore.

Il concorrente svizzero ha conquistato la vittoria battendosi coraggiosamente per difendere la posizione dall’incalzante pilota austriaco Gerhard Tweraser, mentre Sanna passava la bandiera a scacchi in terza posizione.

“Wow, che gara!” ha esclamato C. Leimer. “Ho visto la vettura #22 tornare al paddock e mi dispiace molto per Zucchi, perché a Spa ho avuto lo stesso problema. Ma le corse sono anche questo!”

Gara 18
Tweraser, dopo aver perso la lotta per il titolo, si è consolato riportando la vittoria nell’ultima gara stagionale. All’ottavo giro, l’austriaco ha sorpassato C. Leimer che partiva dalla pole position, prima di consegnare il volante al suo copilota Filip Sladecka.

Lo slovacco Sladecka ha spinto a fondo difendendosi da C. Leimer, che ha ottenuto la piazza d’onore finendo davanti alla coppia composta da Zucchi e Babini, che ha chiuso in terza posizione.

“Sfortunatamente questa vittoria è arrivata leggermente in ritardo,” ha commentato Tweraser. “Abbiamo fatto quello che potevamo, ma la nostra prestazione nella prima gara ci è costata il campionato, sono comunque contento di aver lottato per il titolo nella mia prima stagione di gare su vetture sportive.”

Il Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo tornerà nel 2012 e 2013, insieme al lancio di una serie sorella in Asia l’anno prossimo.

The 2011 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Pro-Am Drivers’ title battle went to the last race of the 18-round season, illustrating the competitiveness of the one-make series. After the final chequered flag it was Switzerland’s Cédric Leimer taking the Pro Am title in Barcelona, Spain, on 30 October 2011, joining Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. on the podium to take the teams’ title.

Talented gentleman driver C. Leimer went into the weekend as one of three title contenders, with Italy’s Matteo Zucchi and Austria’s Gerhard Tweraser also in contention, but a win and two second-place finishes saw C. Leimer crowned champion.

Joining the season’s awards ceremony was Italian Fabio Babini, who secured the 2011 Pro Drivers’ title during the penultimate race weekend in Hockenheim.

New faces for the finale included the FIA GT3 European Championship’s Bernard Delhez and Dimitri Enjalbert, who claimed victory in race one to start their Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo experience in style, as well as France’s Auto Hebdo journalist Romain Bernard, who earned a podium finish in race two alongside chief Lamborghini test driver Giorgio Sanna.

Former Indy Lights racer Carmen Jorda and Italian Superstars Series’ Francesca Linossi, joined the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo in Spain with the latter earning crucial points to confirm Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. as Teams’ Champion.

“I’m very happy to be Pro-Am Champion,” said C. Leimer. “I’m really surprised to have won the title; at the beginning of the weekend I was hoping to finish second or third.

“I don’t think it’s quite sunk in yet that I am the champion. I want to thank everyone at Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter for their support this season.”

Qualifying
Reiter’s Dutch duo of Peter Kox and Nico Pronk sealed pole position in qualifying, posting a fastest lap time of 1:52.789, while Zucchi boosted his chances of securing the Pro-Am title by taking second on the grid with Babini.

Round 16
The debutant pairing of Enjalbert and Delhez stunned the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo grid by taking victory in their first race with the series. Starting from sixth, Delhez climbed up to third by the beginning of the pit window.

Enjalbert assumed control and proceeed to move up to second behind C. Leimer, who led the race despite taking an early drive-through penalty. The French racer then overtook his Swiss counterpart two laps from the end of the race for victory, with pole-sitters Kox and Pronk taking third.

“It was a fantastic result, especially considering we haven’t raced together for about six months,” said Enjalbert. “Both Bernard and I love Lamborghini cars, so to have come here and won is a fantastic feeling.”

Round 17
In a spectacularly close finish, Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter’s C. Leimer secured race two victory by just 0.064s to overhaul Zucchi at the top of the Pro-Am Standings after the Italian retired due to damage sustained after contact with Simone Iacone in the #20.
The Swiss racer clinched the win from Gerhard Tweraser, bravely fending off the Austrian racer in the closing stages, while Sanna took third alongside Bernard.

“Wow, what a race!” exclaimed C. Leimer. “I could see the #22 go back to the paddock and I feel sorry for Zucchi as I had the same problem at Spa. But that’s racing!”

Round 18
Tweraser made up for the disappointment of missing out on title glory by winning the final race of the season. The Austrian overtook pole-sitter C. Leimer on lap eight, before his co-pilot Filip Sladecka took to the track.

Slovakian Sladecka went from strength to strength, holding off C. Leimer, who won the title courtesy of finishing ahead of third-placed pairing Zucchi and Babini.

“Unfortunately this victory is just a little bit too late,” said Tweraser. “We did what we could but our performance in race one cost us the championship, however I’m delighted to have fought for a title in my first season of sports car racing.”

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will return in 2012 and 2013, with a sister series launching in Asia next year.

Second-place Finish Clinches Leimer Title

Cédric Leimer is the new Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Pro-Am Drivers’ Champion after finishing second in the final race of the season at Barcelona, Spain, on 30 October 2011.

The last victory of 2011 went to Gravity-Charouz Racing’s Gerhard Tweraser, who overtook pole-sitter C. Leimer on lap eight before handing control over to his co-pilot Filip Sladecka.

Slovakian Sladecka then guided the #77 entry home, with C. Leimer finishing behind, one place ahead of Pro-Am title rival Matteo Zucchi and his co-pilot Fabio Babini.

C. Leimer Takes Pro-Am Lead With Stunning Catalan Victory

Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter’s Cédric Leimer secured victory in race two by just 0.064s to overhaul Matteo Zucchi atop the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Pro-Am Drivers’ standings at Barcelona, Spain, on 30 October 2011.

The Swiss racer clinched the win from Gravity-Charouz Racing’s Gerhard Tweraser in a spectacularly close finish, while Official Lamborghini Test Driver Giorgio Sanna took third alongside France’s Romain Bernard.

As a result, C. Leimer has taken a one-point lead ahead of Matteo Zucchi in the standings after the Italian was forced to retire just six laps into the race due to radiator damage.

“Wow, what a race!” exclaimed C. Leimer. “I could see the #22 go back to the paddock and I feel sorry for Zucchi as I had the same problem at Spa. But that’s racing! Now the championship hangs on just one race, so it will be very interesting.

“I’m of course very nervous but Matteo will be in the same position and I know the track better than him. I will start from the front but Fabio is very quick so the pressure is not over yet.”

The final race of the 2011 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo season takes place this afternoon at 16:10 (CET).

Il nuovo duo del team Bonaldi Motorsport, composto da Bernard Delhez e Dimitri Enjalbert, ha centrato la vittoria nella gara 16 del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo 2011 a Barcellona, in Spagna, il giorno 29 ottobre 2011, mentre Cédric Leimer è riuscito a recuperare lo svantaggio che aveva rispetto a Matteo Zucchi nella classifica piloti Pro-Am, salendo sul secondo gradino del podio.

Peter Kox e Nico Pronk hanno centrato la pole position nella sessione di qualifiche mattutina. La coppia olandese ha fatto segnare il miglior tempo di 1:52.789 a tre minuti dalla fine: un tempo che il resto del gruppo non è riuscito a migliorare.

Zucchi, in corsa per il titolo di campione Pro-Am, si è preso il secondo posto in griglia insieme al suo copilota e campione della classifica dei piloti Pro 2011 Fabio Babini, facendo fermare il cronometro su 1:52.941. La vettura #99 del team Gravity-Charouz Racing, pilotata da Athanasios Ladas e Erik Janiš, hanno occupato la terza piazza girando sul circuito spagnolo in 1:53.123.

Tuttavia ad inizio corsa è stata la vettura #69 dei debuttanti Delhez e Enjalbert ad impressionare tutti. Il pilota belga Delhez è stato autore di una partenza promettente scalando la classifica dal sesto posto al terzo alla fine del secondo giro, prima di cedere il volante della vettura al copilota Enjalbert.

Enjalbert ha immediatamente attaccato il gruppo, passando velocemente al secondo posto alle spalle del leader della corsa C. Leimer. Ne è nato un duello intenso tra i due, e a due giri dalla fine Enjalbert ha sorpassato il suo avversario svizzero per andare a cogliere la vittoria.

Sul terzo gradino del podio sono saliti Pronk e Kox, che hanno concluso la corsa in forte rimonta, dopo essere scivolati all’ottavo posto a metà corsa, mentre Zucchi, leader della classifica piloti Pro-Am, ha tagliato il traguardo al nono posto per aver perduto posizioni durante l’apertura dei pit.

C. Leimer ha ridotto il suo svantaggio da Zucchi a 14 punti, e con i 30 punti in gioco nelle ultime due gare del finale di stagione, il titolo dei piloti Pro-Am sarà incerto fino all’ultimo giorno.

“Nonostante sia molto deluso per non aver vinto, è comunque un ottimo risultato chiudere al secondo posto dopo essere partito dalla settima posizione in griglia e aver dovuto scontare una penalità di passaggio ai box,” ha commentato C. Leimer. “Non voglio dire che vincerò il titolo, perché Zucchi è ancora saldamente in testa alla classifica, staremo a vedere in gara domani.”

Le due gare finali del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo 2011 avranno luogo domenica 30 ottobre 2011.

Delhez And Enjalbert Win In Barcelona As Leimer Closes On Zucchi

Bonaldi Motorsport’s new pairing of Bernard Delhez and Dimitri Enjalbert clinched victory in round 16 of the 2011 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo at Barcelona, Spain, on 29 October 2011, while Cédric Leimer closed the gap on Pro-Am standings leader Matteo Zucchi by taking second place.

It was Reiter’s Peter Kox and Nico Pronk who took pole position in the morning’s qualifying session. The Dutch duo set a fastest lap time of 1:52.789 with just three minutes remaining, a time not bettered by the rest of the field.

Pro-Am title chaser Zucchi claimed second place on the grid with co-pilot and 2011 Pro Drivers’ Champion Fabio Babini setting a fastest lap time of 1:52.941. The #99 Gravity-Charouz Racing entry of Athanasios Ladas and Erik Janiš rounded out the top three after lapping the Spanish circuit in 1:53.123.

However when the race began it was the #69 car of debutants Delhez and Enjalbert that impressed most. Belgian driver Delhez made a promising start from sixth, climbing to third by the end of lap two before handing control to co-pilot Enjalbert.

Enjalbert promptly cut through the field, quickly moving up to second behind leader C. Leimer. A heated duel ensued between the pair, and with two laps remaining Enjalbert overtook his Swiss opponent to earn victory.

Third place was claimed by Pronk and Kox, who finished the race strongly after slipping to eighth by the mid-point of the race, while Pro-Am leader Zucchi finished ninth after falling through the field during the pit window.

As a result, C. Leimer has cut Zucchi’s Pro-Am lead to 14 points, and with 30 points on offer in the season’s final two races, the Pro-Am title chase will go into the final day.

“While I’m disappointed not to have won, it’s still great to have finished second considering I was seventh on the grid and received a drive-through penalty,” said C. Leimer. “I won’t say I’m going to win the title because Zucchi still has a strong lead, but we’ll see what happens when the actions starts tomorrow.”

The final two races of the 2011 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will take place on Sunday 30 October 2011.

Bonaldi Motorsport racers Bernard Delhez and Dimitri Enjalbert secured victory in the opening race of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race weekend at Barcelona, Spain, on 29 October 2011. Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter’s Cédric Leimer took second to cut Matteo Zucchi’s lead of the Pro-Am standings to 14 points, while Peter Kox and Nico Pronk finished third in the #76 Reiter Engineering entry.

Starting from sixth on the grid, Delhez made a great start to climb to third place by the end of lap two. The Belgian maintained this position until the pit window opened, before handing control over to Enjalbert, who cut through the field to move up to second place behind leader C. Leimer.

The two leading drivers duelled for the lead, before Enjalbert got the better of his opponent two laps from the end to take a maiden victory, while Kox took a comfortable third-place finish ahead of Erik Janis. A fifth-place finish for Francesca Linossi and Simone Iacone clinched Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. the Teams’ Championship.

Reiter Engineering's Peter Kox and Nico Pronk set the fastest time of qualifying for the final Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race weekend of 2011 at Barcelona, Spain, on 29 October 2011.

The Dutch duo set a lap time of 1:52.789 with just three minutes of the session remaining, a time that wasn't bettered. Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L.'s Matteo Zucchi boosted his chances of winning the Pro-Am Drivers' title by claiming second on the grid with co-pilot Fabio Babini (1:52.941), while the Gravity-Charouz Racing pairing of Athanasios Ladas and Erik Janis clinched third (1:53.123).

The weekend's first race takes place at 13:20 (CET) this afternoon.

Gravity-Charouz Racing's Athanasios Ladas and Erik Janis set the fastest lap time of a wet Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo free practice session at Barcelona, Spain, on 28 October 2011.

The pairing were quickest around the track, which was wet after an earlier onslaught of rain, with of a time of 1:54.217, while Official Lamborghini Test Driver Giorgio Sanna and France's Romain Bernard were second fastest with a 1:54.632.

The weekend's qualifying session gets underway at 09:00 on Saturday 29 October 2011, with race one commencing at 13:20.

Fierce Competition For Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Title

Three drivers head into the final round of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo at Barcelona, Spain, on 28-30 October 2011 with a realistic chance of claiming the highly-competitive Pro-Am Drivers’ title.

Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L.’s Matteo Zucchi leads the way in the standings, but the Italian only holds a 23-point advantage over Swiss racer Cédric Leimer and Austria’s Gerhard Tweraser, who are tied in second place on 124 points. Both will be desperate to guide their 570hp Super Trofeo race cars to glory.

Zucchi’s lead was bolstered by two wins during the last race weekend at Germany’s Hockenheimring, although victory for Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter’s C. Leimer in the final race reduced Zucchi’s lead. Tweraser, along with co-pilot Filip Sladecka, visited the podium after all three races at Hockenheim to ensure he kept close to Zucchi in the standings.

Zucchi’s co-pilot Fabio Babini clinched his second Pro Drivers’ title at Hockenheim, but will be keen to repeat his victory at Barcelona in 2009 in an attempt to aid his team-mate’s title charge.

Several new faces will also join the series’ grid at Barcelona, and after Michela Cerruti’s appearance at Hockenheim, the series welcomes two more female pilots. Superstars Series racer Francesca Linossi joins Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. and will partner 2010 Italian SEAT León Supercopa Champion Simone Iacone as she races in Barcelona to evaluate a potential full-time switch to the series next year.

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo’s other dose of girl power comes from Spain’s Indy Lights and Le Mans Series driver Carmen Jorda, who will link up with the Czech Republic’s Dominik Hašek in the #88 Gravity-Charouz entry. Another change for the Czech team sees Greece’s Athanasios Ladas join Erik Janiš in car #99.

Belgian racer Bernard Delhez and France’s Dimitri Enjalbert, who race for Team LMP Motorsport in the FIA GT3 European Championship, will make their Super Trofeo debut at the Spanish circuit in the #69 Bonaldi Motorsport race car.

AUTOhebdo journalist Romain Bernard will appear in the #1 Automobili Lamborghini VIP guest entry. Bernard will team up with Official Lamborghini Test Driver Giorgio Sanna once again; the pair tasted victory at Paul Ricard HTTT in 2009. Juan Collin makes his second appearance in the series after racing at Barcelona in 2009. The Spaniard will be joined by Sanna’s fellow test driver Mario Fasanetto in the #2 VIP guest car.

“What an amazing season it has been,” said Maurizio Reggiani, Automobili Lamborghini Director of Research and Development, and responsible for motorsport. “The Pro-Am title fight is going to the wire and I’m very excited to see who’ll win. The Super Trofeo race car has provided fans with truly exciting race action this year.”

Following Barcelona, attention will turn to the 2012 season as the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will continue, with a sister series also launching in Asia next year.

Forte Competizione Nella Lotta Per Il Titolo Del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo

Sono tre i piloti che si avviano all’appuntamento finale del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo a Barcellona, in Spagna, i giorni 28-30 ottobre 2011, con una reale possibilità di poter conquistare il titolo della combattutissima classifica Pro-Am.  

Matteo Zucchi del team Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. è in testa alla classifica, ma l’italiano vanta solo 23 punti di vantaggio sul contendente svizzero Cédric Leimer e sull’austriaco Gerhard Tweraser, che si posizionano al secondo posto con 124 punti ciascuno. Entrambi sono ansiosi di andare in cerca di gloria alla guida delle vetture da gara di 570 CV.  

Le due vittorie dell’ultimo weekend di gara presso il Hockenheimring, in Germania, hanno rafforzato il comando di Zucchi, tuttavia la vittoria di C. Leimer del team Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter nella gara finale, ha ridotto il vantaggio di Zucchi. Tweraser, insieme al copilota Filip Sladecka, è rimasto comunque vicino a Zucchi in classifica, salendo sul podio in occasione di tutte tre le gare di Hockenheim.  

Fabio Babini, copilota di Zucchi, ha conquistato il suo secondo titolo della classifica Piloti Pro a Hockenheim, ma vorrà certamente ricalcare la vittoria ottenuta a Barcellona nel 2009 per aiutare il suo compagno di squadra a vincere la sfida per il titolo.  

Alcuni nomi nuovi si aggiungeranno in griglia a Barcellona, e dopo Michela Cerruti a Hockenheim, la serie dà il benvenuto ad altre due donne in veste da pilota. Francesca Linossi, che gareggia nella serie Superstars, entra tra le fila del team Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. e correrà a fianco di Simone Iacone, campione italiano della Supercoppa SEAT León 2010, in previsione di un impegno a tempo pieno nella serie del prossimo anno.  

L’altra dose di femminilità del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo viene da Carmen Jorda, che corre nella serie Indy Lights spagnola e nella serie Le Mans, e che si cimenterà insieme al ceco Dominik Hašek nella guida della vettura #88 del team Gravity-Charouz. Un altro cambiamento all’interno del team della Repubblica ceca è rappresentato dal Greco Athanasios Ladas che affiancherà Erik Janiš sulla vettura #99.  

Il pilota belga Bernard Delhez e il francese Dimitri Enjalbert, che corrono entrambi per il Team LMP Motorsport nel Campionato europeo FIA GT3, faranno il loro debutto in Super Trofeo sul circuito spagnolo a bordo della vettura da gara #69 del team Bonaldi Motorsport.  

Il giornalista di AUTOhebdo Romain Bernard sarà alla guida della vettura ospiti VIP #1 del team Automobili Lamborghini. Bernard correrà di nuovo insieme a Giorgio Sanna, collaudatore ufficiale della Lamborghini; la coppia ha centrato una vittoria sul circuito di Paul Ricard HTTT nel 2009. Juan Collin gareggerà nella serie per la seconda volta dopo Barcellona nel 2009. Lo spagnolo sarà affiancato da Mario Fasanetto, l’altro collaudatore della Lamborghini a bordo della vettura ospiti VIP #2.  

“È stata una stagione incredibile,” ha commentato Maurizio Reggiani, Direttore di Ricerca e Sviluppo della Automobili Lamborghini e responsabile per il motorsport. “La lotta per il titolo di pilota Pro-Am sta giungendo al termine e sono molto curioso di vedere chi vincerà. Babini Si Prende Il Titolo Con Stile

Fabio Babini ha vinto il titolo piloti Pro del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo a Hockenheim, in Germania, il 2 ottobre 2011, cogliendo due successi per chiudere in gloria.
La serie ha dato il benvenuto al vincitore della 24 ore di Le Mans Tomáš Enge, che ha lottato per il titolo di miglior team a bordo della vettura #88 della Gravity-Charouz Racing. Martin Öhlin, pilota del Touring Car scandinavo, e Jochen Übler, editore della pubblicazione tedesca Auto Motor und Sport, sono invece saliti sulla vettura ospiti VIP #2 del team Automobili Lamborghini.

Inoltre Michela Cerruti, pilota nella serie Supercar, è stata la seconda donna di sempre a gareggiare nella serie a bordo della vettura ospiti VIP #1 del team Automobili Lamborghini. Cerruti ha corso nella serie Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo a seguito di un accordo tra la casa automobilistiva e la Commissione Sportiva Automobilistica Italiana (CSAI).

Tuttavia Babini, il veterano della serie, ha rubato la scena a tutti. Il campione piloti Pro 2009 ha riconquistato il titolo che aveva perso la scorsa stagione centrando due incredibili vittorie insieme al compagno di squadra Matteo Zucchi.

Solo Cédric Leimer è riuscito a impedire una tripletta al duo, conquistando una straordinaria vittoria in gara tre. Il talento svizzero è risalito dalla sesta posizione fino a cogliere la vittoria con una prestazione ineguagliabile.

Di conseguenza, anche Zucchi è in testa alla combattutissima classifica piloti Pro-Am seguito da Gerhard Tweraser e C. Leimer con 23 punti sul secondo, mentre ci si avvia verso Barcellona per un finale intenso.

“Abbiamo avuto un fine settimana eccellente: la macchina era fantastica,” ha commentato Babini. “Ha fatto bel tempo e la folla a bordo pista non è stata da meno, quindi sono molto contento di aver conquistato il titolo Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo per la seconda volta qui a Hockenheim.

“Essere campione è bello, ma continuo a lavorare per il team e ad aiutare Matteo per la conquista del titolo piloti Pro-Am, quindi la stagione non è ancora finita. Manca ancora un fine settimana di gara e il team Gravity-Charouz Racing sta migliorando molto, quindi lotteremo fino all’ultima gara.”

Qualifiche
C. Leimer del team Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter ha centrato la pole position dopo aver dominato la sessione di qualifiche mattutina. Il pilota svizzero ha preso subito il controllo facendo segnare il tempo di 1:43.729 che nessuno dei suoi rivali è riuscito a migliorare durante la sessione di 30 minuti. Babini, pilota del team Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L., ha fermato il cronometro su 1:43.897 blindando il secondo posto, mentre il rivale per il titolo Peter Kox ha fatto registrare il tempo di 1:44.639 per posizionarsi terzo insieme al suo copilota Nico Pronk.

Gara 13
Leimer, in pole position, non ha vinto la gara d’apertura del weekend a causa di un errore a cinque giri dalla fine. Questo ha permesso a Babini e Zucchi di cogliere la vittoria, portando il primo dei due a solo un trionfo dal titolo piloti Pro.

Il team Gravity-Charouz Racing ha occupato gli altri due gradini del podio, con Gerhard Tweraser e Filip Sladecka in seconda posizione davanti ai compagni di squadra Jakub Knoll e Erik Janiš.

“Matteo non ha avuto vita facile all’inizio della gara, Cédric era molto veloce,” ha esordito Babini. “È stato molto difficile recuperare lo svantaggio, ma sappiamo che possiamo essere più veloci di lui e lo abbiamo dimostrato più volte. Ci siamo avvicinati e il fatto che abbia commesso un errore ci ha favorito. Mi ha permesso di passarlo senza dover forzare la macchina. A questo punto della stagione è un ottimo risultato per il team.”

Gara 14
Babini ha messo il sigillo al titolo piloti Pro con una certa enfasi, vincendo anche la gara 14 dopo aver concluso con successo l’inseguimento di Knoll nei giri conclusivi.

Knoll ha ereditato il comando della corsa dal suo copilota Janiš, che da terzo era andato in testa prima dell’apertura della finestra dei box. Knoll è emerso dai pit con parecchi secondi di vantaggio su Babini, ma l’italiano si è avvicinato fino al sorpasso ai danni di Knoll a tre giri dalla fine. Knoll ha mantenuto la seconda posizione, mentre Tweraser e Sladecka sono nuovamente saliti sul podio tagliando il traguardo al terzo posto

“Pensavo di fare meglio,” ha commentato Tweraser. “Abbiamo perso circa tre secondi al pit, poi Sladecka ha avuto un problema al cambio nel rettilineo. Siamo riusciti a ridurre il distacco, ma non ci è stato possibile sorpassare Babini, quindi abbiamo dovuto accontentarci e prenderci i punti. Questi mi hanno permesso di salire alla seconda posizione nella classifica piloti Pro-Am, quindi da quellla prospettiva è un ottimo risultato.”

Gara 15
C. Leimer è riuscito a tornare in lotta per il titolo piloti Pro-Am conquistando la vittoria nella gara conclusiva del weekend. All’inizio della gara tre si trovava in sesta posizione, riuscendo a risalire in quarta prima della finestra dei box, quindi ha approfittato di una serie di pit-stop problematici capitati ai concorrenti davanti per passare in testa al gruppo.

C. Leimer è riuscito a conquistare la vittoria nonostante la determinatissima guida di Babini, che nel frattempo aveva recuperato dalla quinta posizione lasciatagli in eredità da Zucchi e chiudeva secondo davanti a Tweraser e Sladecka.

“È stata una bellissima conclusione per questo weekend di gara,” ha commentato Leimer. “Anche nelle altre gare sono partito bene, ma poi ho avuto sfortuna chiudendo al sesto e al settimo posto, quindi non avevo certo velleità di vittoria. Pensavo di poter chiudere al quarto o quinto posto, con l’obbiettivo principale di racimolare ulteriori punti per il titolo Pro-Am, quindi la vittoria è stata una cosa eccezionale!”

La stagione 2011 del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo si concluderà a Barcellona, in Spagna, i giorni 28-30 ottobre 2011.

Babini Clinches Lamborghini Crown In Style

Fabio Babini won the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Pro Drivers’ title at Germany’s Hockenheimring on 2 October 2011, clinching two wins from the weekend’s three races in the process to seal the glory in style.

The series welcomed 24 Hours of Le Mans class winner Tomáš Enge, who joined  Gravity-Charouz Racing’s Teams’ title charge in the #88 entry. Meanwhile, Scandinavian touring car racer Martin Öhlin made his Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo alongside Jochen Übler, editor of German publication Auto Motor und Sport, in the #2 Automobili Lamborghini VIP guest car.

Elsewhere, Superstars Series racer Michela Cerruti completed the guest line-up, becoming the second woman to compete in the series when she drove the #1 Automobili Lamborghini VIP guest car. Cerruti entered the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo following an agreement between the Italian marque and the Commissione Sportiva Automobilistica Italiana (CSAI).

It was series veteran Babini that stole the show however. The 2009 Pro Drivers’ Champion regained the crown he lost last season by claiming two stunning victories with his co-pilot Matteo Zucchi.

The pair was denied a triple victory when Pro-Am driver Cédric Leimer drove to an excellent win in race three. The talented Swiss pilot climbed from a sixth-place start to take the victory in a seamless performance.

As a result, Zucchi leads both Gerhard Tweraser and C. Leimer at the top of the hard-fought Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings by 23 points as they move to Barcelona for a tense finale.

“We’ve had an excellent weekend: the car felt brilliant,” said Babini. “We’ve had great weather and there is a fantastic crowd at the track, so I’m very happy to win my second Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo title here.

“Although being champion is great, I am still working for the team and supporting Matteo in the Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings, so the season’s not over yet. There is one race weekend to go, and Gravity-Charouz Racing is getting stronger, so we will fight until the last race.”

Qualifying
Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter’s C. Leimer secured pole position after dominating the morning’s qualifying session. The Swiss racer took early control with a lap time of 1:43.729 that none of his rivals managed to better during the 30-minute session. Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L.’s Babini set a lap time of 1:43.897 to secure second, while his title rival Peter Kox recorded a time of 1:44.639 to earn third with his co-pilot Nico Pronk.

Round 13
Pole-sitter Leimer was denied victory in the opening encounter when a mistake five laps from the end of the race allowed Babini and Zucchi to take the win, pushing the former just one triumph away from the Pro Drivers’ title.

Gravity-Charouz Racing locked out the last two spots on the podium, with Gerhard Tweraser and Filip Sladecka taking second position ahead of team-mates Jakub Knoll and Erik Janiš.

“It was not easy for Matteo at the beginning of the race, Cédric was very fast,” said Babini. “It was difficult to close the gap, but we know that we can be faster than him, and have been many times. We closed a little and for us it was good that he made a mistake. It allowed me to pass without pushing the car too much. At this stage in the season it was very good for the team.”

Round 14
Babini sealed the Pro Drivers’ title in emphatic fashion, winning round 14 after successfully chasing down Knoll in the closing laps.

Knoll inherited the lead when his co-pilot Janiš, stormed to the front of the pack from third place prior to the pit-stop window. Knoll emerged from the pits several seconds ahead of Babini, but the Italian closed in to overtake him three laps from the end. Knoll held on to take second, with Tweraser and Sladecka making a repeat visit to the podium in third.

“I still wanted to do better,” said Tweraser. “We lost about three seconds in the pit and then Filip had a problem with the gearbox on the straight. We managed to close the gap but it was not possible to catch Babini, so we had to be satisfied and take our points. These have moved me up to second in the Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings so it is a great result from that perspective.”

Round 15

Babini Seals Title In Style

Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L.'s Fabio Babini secured the 2011 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Pro Drivers' title in style with victory in round 14 at Hockenheim, Germany, on 2 October 2011.

Babini overtook the Czech Republic's Jakub Knoll just three laps from the end of the race to take the win, the latter finished second ahead of Filip Sladecka in the sister Gravity-Charouz Racing entry.

Babini's co-pilot Matteo Zucchi moves 21 points clear atop the Pro-Am Drivers' Standings as a result of the victory.

“We’ve had an excellent weekend: the feeling with the car has been brilliant, we’ve had great weather and there is a fantastic crowd here at the track, so I’m very happy to win my second Super Trofeo title,” said Babini.

“Jakub Knoll was very strong but we had a great set-up and new tyres so I could push until the last lap. Although being champion is great, I am working for the team and supporting Matteo in the Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings, so it is not over yet. There is still one race weekend after Hockenheim, and Gravity-Charouz Racing is getting stronger, so we will fight until the last race if needed.”

The final race at Hockenheim takes place later today at 15.50 (CET).

Babini One Step Away From Lamborghini Glory

Fabio Babini is one win away from sealing the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Pro Drivers’ title following victory in round 13 of the 2011 season at Germany’s Hockenheimring on 1 October 2011.

Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter’s Cédric Leimer clinched pole position in the morning’s qualifying session. The Swiss racer took early control with a lap time of 1:43.729 that none of his rivals managed to better during the 30-minute session.

A last-minute sprint from Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L.’s Babini registered a lap time of 1:43.897 to put the Italian on the front row in second. Behind Babini on the race one grid was his title rival Peter Kox, who set a time of 1:44.639 to earn third with his co-pilot Nico Pronk.

Leimer held on to his lead at the start of the afternoon’s race, battling off competition from Babini’s co-pilot Matteo Zucchi behind him. Meanwhile, Erik Janiš charged through the field, climbing from 12th position to third over the opening eight laps, before overtaking Zucchi.

Zucchi pitted soon after, with Babini assuming control of the #22 entry. The Italian regained second from Janiš’ co-pilot Jakub Knoll when the Czech racer emerged from the pits behind the #22. Babini then inherited the lead when Cédric Leimer made a mistaken and suffered a slow puncture, which caused him to slip down the order six laps from the end.

Babini maintained his lead to the chequered flag, while Gerhard Tweraser and Filip Sladecka finished in second place after the former overtook his team-mate Knoll in the closing laps.

“It was not easy for Matteo at the beginning of the race, Cedric was very fast,” said Babini. “It was difficult to close the gap, but we know that we can be faster than him, and have been many times. We closed a little and for us it was good that he made a mistake. It allowed me to pass without pushing the car too much. At this stage in the season it was a very good result for the team.”

Round 14 commences at 10.25 (CET) on Sunday 2 October 2011.

A Fabio Babini manca una vittoria per blindare il titolo piloti Pro del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, dopo aver riportato la vittoria nella gara 13 della stagione 2011 presso il circuito di Hockenheimring, in Germania, il giorno 1 ottobre 2011.

Cédric Leimer del team Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter ha centrato la pole position durante la sessione di qualifica della mattina. Il pilota svizzero ha fatto segnare subito il miglior tempo con 1:43.729, tempo che nessuno dei suoi rivali è riuscito a eguagliare durante la sessione di 30 minuti.

La buona prestazione di Fabio Babini del team Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. è valso al pilota italiano il secondo posto in prima fila con il tempo di 1:43.897. Alle spalle di Babini si è posizionato il suo rivale per il titolo Peter Kox, che è riuscito a guadagnare la terza posizione insieme al suo copilota Nico Pronk facendo segnare il tempo di 1:44.639.

Leimer ha mantenuto la testa della corsa all’inizio della gara pomeridiana, respingendo l’attacco di Matteo Zucchi alle sue spalle. Nel frattempo Erik Janiš è risalito il gruppo dalla dodicesima posizione fino alla terza nel corso delle prime otto tornate, prima di sorpassare Zucchi.

Poco dopo Zucchi è tornato ai box per passare il volante della vettura #22 a Babini. L’italiano ha rimontato Jakub knoll, il copilota di Janiš, mentre il pilota ceco riemergeva dai pits alle spalle della vettura #22. Babini ha ereditato il comando quando Cédric Leimer è rimasto vittima di una perdita di pressione al pneumatico anteriore destro e ha perso posizioni durante gli ultimi sei giri.

Babini ha mantenuto la testa della corsa fino alla bandiera a scacchi, mentre Tweraser e Filip Sladecka hanno chiuso al secondo posto, quando il primo dei due ha sorpassato il suo compagno di squadra Knoll nei giri conclusivi.

“Matteo non ha avuto vita facile all’inizio della corsa, Cédric era molto veloce,” ha commentato Babini. “È stato molto difficile recuperare lo svantaggio, ma sappiamo che possiamo essere più veloci di lui, e lo abbiamo dimostrato più volte. Babini and Zucchi Strengthen Respective Title Charges

Fabio Babini is potentially one race away from the 2011 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Pro Drivers’ title after winning the opening race at Hockenheim, Germany, on 1 October 2011.

The Italian’s co-pilot Matteo Zucchi, who began the race second on the grid, lost one place during the opening nine laps, but when Babini assumed control of the vehicle, he overhauled pole-sitter Cédric Leimer and the Czech Republic’s Jakub Knoll to guide the Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L #22 Super Trofeo to the chequered flag.

Cédric Leimer Dominates To Take Lamborghini Pole At Hockenheim

Swiss pilot Cédric Leimer will be on pole position for round 13 of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series at Hockenheim, Germany, on 1 October 2011.

C. Leimer took early control of the qualifying session despite fast times being posted by the pairing of Gerhard Tweraser and Filip Sladecka in the #77, and their Gravity-Charouz Racing team-mates Petr Charouz and Tomáš Enge in the #88 entry.

Halfway through the 30-minute session C. Leimer posted a fastest lap of 1:43.729 that remained unbeaten to put him on pole for this afternoon’s race.

In the closing stages Dutchman Peter Kox set a lap time of 1:44.639 to put him and team-mate Nico Pronk second, but a last-minute sprint from Fabio Babini in the #22 produced a lap time of 1:43.897 to knock the #76 off the front row. Charouz and Enge in the #88 rounded out the top four.

“I’m really happy, it’s the first pole position of my career,” explained Leimer. “The team have prepared a great car and I’m after as many points as possible this weekend.”

Round 13 will take place this afternoon, 1 October 2011, at 17:00 (CET).

Cédric Leimer Fastest At Hockenheim

Swiss pilot Cédric Leimer topped the timing sheets today as the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series took to Germany’s Hockenheimring for free practice.

C. Leimer dominated the first session of the weekend, continuously improving his performance to set a fastest lap time of 1:45.176 in the #63 Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter entry.

Second fastest after 50 minutes on the track was Peter Kox, who is currently second in the Pro Drivers’ Standings. The Dutchman set a fastest time of 1:45.561 and will be looking to finish high in the order to dent the gap between himself and standings leader Fabio Babini.

Also on the pace was Filip Sladecka in the #77 Gravity-Charouz Racing Super Trofeo, having set a lap of 1:45.992 to put him third. The Slovakian has ascended the Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings after strong results at the last two race weekends and will be looking for podium finishes to improve from fifth in the standings.

Qualifying will take place on 1 October 2011 at 10:45 (CET), followed by the first race of the weekend, round 13, at 17:00 (CET).

Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Titles In The Balance At Hockenheim

Automobili Lamborghini’s one-make series, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, heads to Germany’s Hockenheimring for the penultimate round of the 2011 season on 30 September – 2 October.

Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L.’s Matteo Zucchi leads the way in the Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings, but the Italian will be looking over his shoulder as the competition isn’t far behind. Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter racer Cédric Leimer is in pursuit just five points adrift while third-placed Gerhard Tweraser is also in close contention.

Zucchi’s co-pilot Fabio Babini will be hoping to build an unassailable lead in the Pro Drivers’ Standings. The Italian currently stands 37 points ahead of closest rival Peter Kox, and with just three races remaining after the German rounds, if Babini stretches his lead to a margin greater than 45 points he will be crowned champion.
Three new faces join the series’ grid at Hockenheim, including Italy’s young female driver Michela Cerruti, who will race alongside Automobili Lamborghini test driver Mario Fasanetto in the #1 Automobili Lamborghini VIP guest entry. Cerruti will enter the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo as a continuation of the partnership between the marque and the Italian Motor Sport Commission ‘CSAI’ which saw talented driver Luigi Ferrara drive the Super Trofeo race car earlier this year.

“Once again CSAI and Lamborghini have collaborated and we are very happy to participate in the initiative, this time giving a young woman the chance to gain further experience,” said Angelo Sticchi Damiani, President of CSAI. “We’ve chosen Michela because she’s shown great class and determination this season. For CSAI this promotional initiative is an ongoing test and I will meet with Lamborghini executives soon to set up a plan that gives us equally exciting opportunities to nurture our driving talents. As the end of the season approaches, I’d like to thank Lamborghini for its commitment to the project.”

In the #2 Automobili Lamborghini VIP entry is the pairing of Jochen Übler and Martin Öhlin. Übler, editor of German publication Auto Motor Und Sport, rejoins the series after an appearance in 2010, while respected touring car driver Öhlin makes his debut after finishing his campaign in the 2011 Scandinavian Touring Car Cup.

In exciting news away from the track, Automobili Lamborghini has confirmed that the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, the world’s only one-make all-wheel drive series, will continue in 2012 and 2013, with a sister series launching in Asia.

Il Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, la serie monomarca di Automobili Lamborghini, si reca al Hockenheimring, in Germania, per disputare la penultima sessione di gare della stagione 2011 i giorni 30 settembre – 2 ottobre.

Matteo Zucchi del team Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. guida la classifica dei piloti Pro-Am, ma l’italiano dovrà guardarsi le spalle perchè la concorrenza non è lontana. Cédric Leimer, che corre per il team Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter, insegue a soli 5 punti, e anche Gerhard Tweraser, in terza posizione, ha un distacco ridotto.

Fabio Babini, il copilota di Zucchi, proverà a blindare la sua posizione nella classifica dei piloti Pro. L’italiano può contare su 37 punti di vantaggio su Peter Kox, il suo rivale più prossimo. Se Babini riuscirà ad accumulare più di 45 punti di margine, alla fine della prossima sessione in Germania potrà essere incoronato campione.

In griglia a Hockenheim ci saranno tre volti nuovi, tra loro figura anche l’italiana Michela Cerruti, che sarà alla guida della vettura ospite #1 del team Automobili Lamborghini, affiancata al collaudatore di Automobili Lamborghini Mario Fasanetto. Cerruti correrà al Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo per proseguire la partnership della marca con la CSAI, la Commissione Sportiva Automobilistica Italiana, che quest’anno ha già visto il talentuoso Luigi Ferrara misurarsi a bordo della vettura Super Trofeo.

Lamborghini and Blancpain have announced that the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, the fastest single make series in the world, is confirmed for the 2012 and 2013 seasons in Europe, and will launch the series in Asia in 2012.

Blancpain, the world’s longest-established watch maker, will continue its title sponsorship in both Europe and Asia. Luxury Swiss brand Blancpain has been title sponsor for three years since the Super Trofeo’s first race season in 2009.

“We’re delighted to confirm the continuation of our one-make race series, at the same time as we launch the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale: our most extreme Gallardo yet, which brings motor racing excitement and theatre directly to the road through a street-legal version of our race car,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “We are also extremely privileged to continue our relationship with Blancpain: the Super Trofeo series has gained significant momentum since we first announced it in 2008, drawing teams, drivers and VIP guests from across Europe, and we are delighted to now expand the series into Asia where it is already being eagerly anticipated by participants and audiences.”

The European series will continue under the same sporting regulations as this year with a calendar to include major F1 circuits in key European countries.

The Asian series will use the same Super Trofeo car as in Europe with minor market modifications. Starting with a test in Sepang in spring, the series will visit circuits in China, Malaysia, Japan and Taiwan over five race weekends.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo is a lightweight version of the Gallardo LP 570-4, with a reworked chassis and a power output of 570 hp from its V10 engine. The race car features Lamborghini’s permanent four-wheel drive, making the Super Trofeo the only one-make, all-wheel drive race series, as well as the fastest one-make series in the world.

La Lamborghini Super Trofeo è una versione leggera della Gallardo LP 570-4 dotata di un telaio modificato, una potenza pari a 570 CV e di un motore V10. Il suo sistema a trazione integrale Lamborghini rende il Super Trofeo l’unica competizione monomarca a vantare vetture a trazione integrale, nonché la più veloce al mondo.

La competizione asiatica vedrà in pista la stessa Super Trofeo che gareggerà in Europa con alcune piccole modifiche di mercato. Si partirà in primavera con una fase di test a Sepang e si proseguirà con cinque weekend di gare sui circuiti della Cina, della Malesia, del Giappone e di Taiwan.

La competizione europea si svolgerà secondo lo stesso regolamento sportivo di quest’anno e il calendario delle gare toccherà i principali circuiti di F1 nei maggiori paesi europei. Il Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo è stato ospite dell’impegnativo circuito di

Spa-Francorchamps, in Belgio, per le Gare 10, 11 e 12 della stagione 2011 nei giorni 28-30 luglio, con una doppia vittoria per Erik Janiš e Jakub Knoll che continuano a migliorare la posizione nella classifica a squadre del team Gravity-Charouz Racing.

Tra i nomi nuovi che si sono aggiunti alla serie monomarca figurano Didier de Radiguès, un ex-motociclista di rispetto passato alla guida di vetture sportive, il giornalista tedesco Christian Gebhardt della pubblicazione Sport Auto, e Fabio Fassitelli, pilota nel Radical.

Fabio Babini e Matteo Zucchi, che salgono frequentemente sul podio, hanno ottenuto la vittoria nella gara d’apertura partendo dalla pole position, mentre Janiš, che in passato aveva già partecipato alla serie, e il ventenne Knoll si sono aggiudicati una seconda gara molto combattuta.

Ulteriori emozioni per il pubblico in Gara tre, quando il duo ceco ha centrato anche la seconda vittoria di seguito. La #1 rossa, vettura ospite VIP del team Automobili Lamborghini, ha passato il traguardo posizionandosi seconda dopo una battaglia su più fronti nell’ultimo giro.

Commentando il podio della vettura #1, il presidente e CEO di Automobili lamborghini Stephan Winkelmann ha dichiarato: “La Lamborghini punta sempre a sorprendere ed entusiasmare. Il rosso è il colore tradizionale per le macchine da corsa italiane: noi stiamo celebrando i 150 anni dell’unità d’Italia con la nostra serie Super Trofeo, la serie monomarca più veloce al mondo.”

Prove di qualifica

Le qualifiche di giovedì si sono svolte in condizioni meteo tipiche per Spa-Francorchamps: bagnato.

Babini ha stabilito il miglior tempo della sessione nell’ultimo giro disponibile per le prove, mentre la vettura #76 di Peter Kox e Nico Pronk si è piazzata al secondo posto. E per la prima volta nella stagione Janiš del team Gravity-Charouz Racing è riuscito a ottenere il terzo tempo.

Gara 10

Babini e Zucchi si sono guadagnati la quarta vittoria stagionale nella gara d’apertura affetta dal maltempo. Il pilota Pro-Am Zucchi ha lottato per mantenere la vettura nelle prime tre posizioni, prima di passare il volante a Babini, il leader della classifica Piloti Pro che si è riportato in testa in pochi giri.

Babini ha colto la bandiera a scacchi mentre Gerhard Tweraser e Filip Sladecka hanno ottenuto il secondo posto davanti a Gianluca Carboni e Riccardo Ragazzi del team Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. a seguito del ritiro di Luigi Ferrara all’ultimo giro.

“Matteo ha fatto un buon lavoro rimanendo nelle prime posizioni, soprattutto considerando su un circuito impegnativo come quello di Spa,” ha dichiarato Babini. “Durante le prove e le qualifiche non siamo riusciti a trovare il set up ottimale a causa del bagnato. Abbiamo scelto un compromesso che non avrebbe funzionato se la pista si fosse asciugata troppo, invece è andata bene e abbiamo ottenuto un ottimo risultato per il team.”

Gara 11

Janiš e Knoll hanno ottenuto la loro prima vittoria nella Gara 11, dove un attacco spettacolare da parte del pilota ceco Janiš ha portato la vettura #99 dall’ottava alla prima posizione in soli sei giri.

Knoll ha dato il cambio al suo co-pilota rimanendo in testa alla competizione e percorrendo il circuito di sette chilometri fino alla vittoria della Gara 11.

Alle spalle del vincitore è giunta la vettura del team Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. di Ragazzi e Carboni che continuano la loro striscia positiva con la seconda piazza, e Hervé Leimer, che è salito sul podio per la prima volta quest’anno.

“Per me è stato un bellissimo ritorno alla serie!” ha esclamato Janiš. “Abbiamo avuto un buon ritmo perché abbiamo apportato delle migliorie rispetto alla gara di questa mattina. Quest’ultima competizione è andata molto meglio”.

Gara 12

Janiš e Knoll hanno hanno ottenuto la loro seconda vittoria di fila nel weekend.

Il duo della Gravity-Charouz Racing si è cimentato in una guida perfetta ancora una volta in condizioni di bagnato vincendo davanti ai piloti ospiti Lamborghini Ferrara e Fassitelli.

Come nelle gare precedenti del weekend, Ragazzi e Carboni sono saliti sul podio arrivando terzi.

Knoll, che si è aggiudicato anche il Rookie Award del weekend, era felicissimo: “Il mio ruolo oggi era di mantenere il vantaggio. Sono salito a bordo della vettura, ero concentrato e siamo riusciti a ottenere un buon risultato. Sono molto contento di vincere anche il Rookie Award, che era completamente inaspettato. È stata una sorpresa fantastica avere entrambi I trofei sul podio.”

La stagione 2011 del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo riprenderà a Hockenheim, in Germania, dal 30 settembre fino al 2 ottobre 2011.

New Challengers Emerge In The Ardennes

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo visited the infamous Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, for rounds 10, 11 and 12 of the 2011 season on 28-30 July, with a double race win for Erik Janiš and Jakub Knoll continuing Gravity-Charouz’s rise in the Teams’ Standings.

New faces joined the one-make series in the Ardennes, with highly-respected motorcycle racer turned sportscar driver Didier de Radiguès entering, as well as German journalist Christian Gebhardt from publication Sport Auto and Radical racer Fabio Fassitelli.

Frequent podium visitors Fabio Babini and Matteo Zucchi claimed victory in the opening race after winning from pole position, before the returning Janiš and 20-year-old Knoll won a dramatic second race.

There was further excitement in race three, where the Czech duo made it two in a row after sealing a lights to flag triumph. The new red colour scheme of the #1 Automobili Lamborghini VIP car crossed the line in second position after a three-way battle on the last lap.

Commenting on the #1 entry’s podium finish, Automobili Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said: “Lamborghini always aims to surprise and excite. Red is the traditional colour of race cars in Italy: we are celebrating 150 years of Italian unity in our Super Trofeo series, which is the fastest one-make series in the world.”

Qualifying
Thursday’s qualifying session saw typical Spa-Francorchamps conditions: wet.
Babini set the fastest time with his last lap of the session, while the #76 entry of Peter Kox and Nico Pronk clinched second. In his first outing of the season, Gravity-Charouz Racing’s Janiš took third place.

Round ten
Babini and Zucchi earned their fourth victory of the season in a weather-affected opening race. Pro-Am driver Zucchi battled to keep the car in the top three during his opening stint, before handing control to Pro Drivers’ Standings leader Babini who charged to the front in a matter of laps.

Babini led to the chequered flag, while Gerard Tweraser and Filip Sladecka clinched second place ahead of Autocarozzeria Imperiale S.R.L.’s Gianluca Carboni and Riccardo Ragazzi when Luigi Ferrara retired from the race in the last lap.

“Matteo did a good job to stay near the front, especially at a tough circuit like Spa,” said Babini. “In qualifying we couldn’t get a real feel for the set-up as it was so wet. We made a compromise with the set-up, which wouldn’t have worked if the track had dried too much, but it did work and we have another good result for the team.”

Round eleven
Janiš and Knoll clinched their maiden victory in round 11, where a spectacular opening stint from Czech driver Janiš helped the #99 entry climb from eighth to first by lap six.

Knoll took over from his co-pilot, staying in front of the competition. Knoll continued around the seven-kilometre circuit to claim round 11 honours.

Behind the winning car was the Autocarozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. entry of Ragazzi and Carboni, who continued their fine form by securing second place, and Hervè Leimer, who made his first visit to the podium this season.

“It was a pretty good return to the series for me!” exclaimed Janiš. “We had good pace as we’d made some changes since this morning’s race, so this one was much better.”

Round twelve
Pole-sitters Janiš and Knoll sealed their second successive victory of the weekend.
The Gravity-Charouz Racing duo produced a flawless drive to claim victory in yet more wet conditions, finishing ahead of Lamborghini VIP drivers Ferrara and Fassitelli.

As with the weekend’s previous two races, Ragazzi and Carboni visited the podium with a third-place finish.

Knoll, who also received the weekend’s Rookie Award, was delighted: “My role was to maintain the gap today. I got in the car, was focused and we achieved a good result. I’m very happy to also win the Rookie Award, as I really wasn’t expecting this. It was a brilliant surprise to have two trophies on the podium.”

The 2011 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo season resumes at Hockenheim, Germany, on 30 September – 2 October 2011.

Two Wins In 24 Hours For Czech Duo

Erik Janiš and Jakub Knoll sealed their second successive Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo victory at Spa-Francorchamps after triumphing in round 12 of the series on 30 July 2011.

The Gravity-Charouz Racing duo claimed a lights to flag victory in yet more wet conditions at the Belgian circuit, producing a flawless drive to finish ahead of the #1 Automobili Lamborghini guest entry of Luigi Ferrara and Fabio Fassitelli.

As with the weekend’s previous two races, Riccardo Ragazzi and Gianluca Carboni visited the podium after the talented Italians clinched a third-place finish.

“We enjoyed a great weekend,” said Janiš. “We had a very good day yesterday and today I tried to create as much of a gap as possible. Jakub drove well and I’d like to thank the team and my brother Jarek for doing a great job with the car.”

“My role was to maintain the gap today,” said Knoll. “I got in the car, was focused and we achieved a good result. I’m very happy to also win the Rookie Award, as I really wasn’t expecting this so it was a brilliant surprise to have two trophies on the podium.”

Gravity Continua A Crescere

Dopo le recenti vittorie in Francia di due settimane fa, il team Gravity-Charouz Racing ha ottenuto un’altro meritato successo nel Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo a Spa-Francorchamps, in Belgio, il 29 luglio 2011.  

Jakub Knoll e Erik Janiš, il quale fa il suo ritorno nella serie, hanno vinto la Gara 11 dopo la quarta vittoria stagionale nella Gara 10 da parte del forte duo italiano formato da Matteo Zucchi e Fabio Babini.  

Babini e Zucchi, partiti dalla pole position, sono andati all’attacco nella prima gara lottando per la posizione di testa in condizioni meteo tipiche per le Ardenne, mentre nei primi giri una pioggia battente imperversava sul circuito di Spa-Francorchamps, Zucchi è scivolato in terza posizione, uno svantaggio che Babini ha recuperato durante la sosta ai pit-stop sorpassando i due piloti al comando.  

Babini ha controllato la corsa raggiungendo la vittoria, mentre Gerard Tweraser e Filip Sladecka hanno ottenuto il secondo posto dopo il ritiro di Luigi Ferrara avvenuto durante l’ultimo giro. Al terzo posto sono giunti Gianluca Carboni e Riccardo Ragazzi, un’accoppiata abituata a salire sul podio.  Zucchi è stato in testa al gruppo fino al pit-stop, costringendo la vettura #22 a rientrare in pista con un giro di ritardo.  

Tale ritiro ha favorito l’impressionante recupero di Erik Janiš. Il pilota ceco è riuscito a prendere la testa della corsa partendo dall’ottava posizione, lasciando il volante al compagno di squadra Knoll al limite del tempo concesso per il cambio pilota.  

Il ventenne Knoll ha fatto tesoro del vantaggio accumulato dal suo compagno di squadra difendendo la posizione da Gerhard Tweraser sulla vettura #77, poi ritiratosi all’ undicesimo giro. Knoll ha continuato a girare sui sette chilometri dell’impegnativo circuito fino alla bandiera a scacchi.

Dietro la vettura vincente del team Gravity-Charouz è giunta quella del team Autocarozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. di Riccardo Ragazzi e Gianluca Carboni, che si sono aggiudicati il secondo posto, seguiti da Hervè Leimer, pilota svizzero della categoria Pro-Am, che ha conquistato il suo primo podio stagionale.  “Per me è stato un ottimo ritorno alla serie!” ha esclamato Janiš.

“Abbiamo avuto un ottimo ritmo dopo aver apportato opportune modifiche dopo la gara di questa mattina. Siamo stati sfortunati per una foratura e quando è arrivato il mio turno di guida non c’era più il tempo necessario per migliorare la nostra posizione. Questa gara invece è andata decisamente meglio.”

Gravity Continues To Rise

  Fresh from two maiden wins in France two weeks ago, Gravity-Charouz Racing earned another well deserved Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo win at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on 29 July 2011.  Jakub Knoll and returning Erik Janiš clinched victory in round 11, following a fourth victory of the season for the talented Italian driving duo of Matteo Zucchi and Fabio Babini in round 10.

Pole-sitters Babini and Zucchi went from strength-to-strength in race one, claiming the lead in typical Ardennes weather conditions; a spell of heavy rain fell on Spa-Francorchamps as Zucchi slipped to third in the opening laps, but Babini leapfrogged the two leading drivers during the pit window to head the field.  

Babini delivered a controlled drive to seal the win, while Gerard Tweraser and Filip Sladecka clinched second place after Luigi Ferrara retired from the race in the last lap. Completing the top-three was the pairing of regular podium visitors Gianluca Carboni and Riccardo Ragazzi.  

Zucchi lead the field away for race two up to the pit window, but a problem during the pit stop meant that the #22 entry emerged from the pits a lap behind. This paved the way for the impressive Erik Janiš to charge to the front. The Czech racer climbed to first from eighth, and handed control over to team-mate Knoll during the last lap of the pit window.  

20-year-old Knoll picked up where his co-pilot left off, fighting away competition from his  team-mate Gerhard Tweraser in the #77 race car, who eventually retired after 11 laps. Knoll continued around the infamous seven-kilometre circuit to take the chequered flag.  

Behind the winning Gravity-Charouz Racing car was the Autocarozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. entry of Riccardo Ragazzi and Gianluca Carboni who secured second place, and Swiss  Pro-Am driver Hervè Leimer, who made his first visit to the podium of the season.  

“It was a pretty good return to the series for me!” exclaimed Janiš. “We had good pace as we’d made some changes since this morning’s race. We were unlucky then and got a puncture so when it was my turn to get in the car there wasn’t enough time to improve our position. But this race was much better.”

Knoll and Janis Earn Maiden Win

Erik Janiš and Jakub Knoll clinched a sensational victory in round 11 of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on 29 July 2011.

The Gravity-Charouz Racing duo started eighth on the grid, but a spectacular opening stint from Czech driver Janiš helped the #99 entry climb to first position by lap six.

Knoll took control from his co-pilot, going from strength to strength to hold off competition from his team-mate Gerhard Tweraser in the #77 race car, who eventually retired from the running after 11 laps. Knoll continued around the seven kilometre circuit to be first past the chequered flag.

Behind the winning car was the Autocarozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. entry of Riccardo Ragazzi and Gianluca Carboni, who continued their fine form so far in Spa by securing second place, and Hervè Leimer, who made his first visit to the podium this season.

Babini And Zucchi Keep Their Cool In Dramatic Opener

Pole-sitters Fabio Babini and Matteo Zucchi took victory in a weather-affected opening Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on 29 July 2011.

Pro-Am driver Zucchi kept the car in the top three during his opening stint, before handing over to Pro Drivers’ Standings leader Babini who leapfrogged both Cèdric Leimer and Gerhard Tweraser ahead of him to take the lead during the pit window.

Babini then produced an assured drive to seal the win, while Gerard Tweraser and Filip Sladecka clinched second place after Luigi Ferrara retired from the race in the last lap. Completing the podium was the winners' team-mates, Gianluca Carboni and Riccardo Ragazzi, who continued their ongoing improvement by claiming a third-place finish.

“Matteo did a good job to stay near the front, especially at a circuit like Spa,” said Babini. “In qualifying we couldn’t get a real feel for the set-up as it was so wet. We made a compromise with the set-up, which wouldn’t have worked if the track had dried too much, but it did work and we have another good result for the team.”

La coppia del team Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. ha ottenuto la prima fila con il tempo di 2:43.441 sul circuito che ospita il Grand Prix belga, davanti alla vettura #76 di Peter Kox e Nico Pronk del team Reiter, che si sono piazzati al secondo posto.

Third Time Lucky For Babini And Zucchi In Belgian Rain

Fabio Babini and Matteo Zucchi claimed their third pole position in a row when qualifying for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo took place at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on 28 July 2011.

The Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. pairing clinched top spot by lapping the home of the Belgian Grand Prix in 2:43.441, ahead of the #76 Reiter entry of Peter Kox and Nico Pronk, who claimed second on the grid.

Erik Janiš, in his first 2011 outing, and Jakub Knoll secured third place on the grid with a time of 2:44.001, beating the #1 Automobili Lamborghini guest entry of Luigi Ferrara and Fabio Fassitelli to third by less than half a second.

“It was a crazy qualifying session,” said Babini. “It was the first time we’ve had really wet conditions this year, so I’m very happy to have taken pole position again. It was a very close contest between us and the #76 car.”

Round ten of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will commence at 10:50 (CET) on 29 July 2011.

The Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. pairing of Fabio Babini and Matteo Zucchi set the fastest time in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo qualifying session at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on 28 July 2011.

The Italian duo’s time of 2:43.441 narrowly beat Peter Kox and Nico Pronk (2:43.990) to pole position, while Erik Janis and Jakub Knoll will start the weekend’s opening race in third after posting a time of 2:44.001.

Round ten of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will commence at 10:50 (CET) on Friday 29 July 2011.

Lamborghini Series Travels To Spa For Second Half Of Season

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo heads to Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on 28-30 July as it moves into the second half of its competitive 2011 season.

Lamborghini’s one-make series travels to the home of the Belgian Grand Prix with Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter continuing to fly the flag for Switzerland. Cédric Leimer spearheads the team’s challenge as leader of the Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings on 93 points following podium finishes in all three races last time out at Paul Ricard HTTT, France, while Hervé Leimer and Laurent Jenny are assisting a charge up the Teams’ Standings.

Pro Drivers’ Standings leader Fabio Babini is hoping to increase the gap between him and Reiter’s Peter Kox. The 2009 Pro Drivers’ Champion had a good weekend at Paul Ricard HTTT claiming victory in the first race as he extended his lead to 34 points.

His co-pilot Matteo Zucchi sits second in the Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings, seven points off the lead, while their Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. team-mates Riccardo Ragazzi and Gianluca Carboni made their first visit to the podium in France.

Fresh from its first win of the season in France, Gravity-Charouz Racing will be hoping for more of the same at Spa-Francorchamps. The team secured its maiden victory courtesy of Filip Sladecka and Gerhard Tweraser’s round eight triumph, before the pair won the next race to make it a memorable double.

Luigi Ferrara rejoins the series after making his first Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo appearance during the season’s curtain-raiser at Monza, and will be joined in the #1 Automobili Lamborghini VIP guest car by Radical European Masters driver Fabio Fassitelli, Christian Gebhardt is among the other new faces joining the series at Spa-Francorchamps. The German, who raced in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring earlier this year, will enter in the #2 Automobili Lamborghini VIP guest car.

Alongside him will be motorcycle turned sportscar racer Didier de Radigués, who makes his series debut. Former 500cc World Championship racer de Radigués turned his attention to endurance racing after his motorcycle career ended, with the Belgian winning the 1997 24 Hours of Spa.

Sladi Blagojevic will make his Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo debut in Belgium, competing in the #13 S-berg Racing entry. As with all drivers contesting in the series, Blagojevic will pilot a 570hp Super Trofeo race car, a derivative of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4.

“We’ve already had three thrilling race weekends in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo,” said Maurizio Reggiani. “Spa-Francorchamps is famous for being one of the most challenging circuits in the world, and the drivers all are very excited to be racing there. It’s certainly one of the highlights of the series’ calendar.”

Il Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo si recherà a Spa-Francorchamps dal 28 al 30 luglio 2011, in Belgio, per la seconda parte della stagione competitiva 2011.

La serie monomarca della Lamborghini arriva sul circuito che ospita il Grand Prix belga con il team Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter che continua a tenere alta la bandiera svizzera. Dopo essere salito sul podio in tutte tre le gare all’ultimo appuntamento a Paul Ricard HTTT, in Francia, Cédric Leimer si trova ora in testa alla classifica, mentre Hervé Leimer e Laurent Jenny incrementano la Classifica a Squadre.

Il leader della classifica Piloti Pro Fabio Babini spera di aumentare il proprio vantaggio su Peter Kox del team Reiter. Il campione piloti Pro Driver 2009 ha vissuto un buon weekend di gara sul circuito di Paul Ricard HTTT vincendo la prima gara e incrementando il suo vantaggio di 34 punti.

Ad affiancarlo ci sarà Didier de Radigués, che è passato dalle due ruote alle macchine sportive e farà il suo debutto nella serie. A seguito della fine della sua carriera come motociclista, l’ex-pilota del Campionato del Mondo 500cc si è interessato all’endurance racing, vincendo nel 1997 la 24 Ore di Spa.

Buona Intesa Tra Sladecka E Tweraser In Francia

Il team Gravity-Charouz Racing ha vissuto un fantastico fine settimana nella cornice del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo presso Paul Ricard HTTT, in Francia, dal 15 al 17 luglio 2011, grazie alla coppia formata da Gerhard Tweraser e Filip Sladecka che ha riportato due meritate vittorie.

Il duo ha vinto le Gare due e tre del weekend lasciando il Sud della Francia con un buon bottino di punti, mentre Fabio Babini e Matteo Zucchi si sono aggiudicati la gara d’apertura di sabato partendo dalla pole.

La griglia del circuito di Paul Ricard HTTT si è arricchita ulteriormente di nomi nuovi tra i quali figurano Antoine Leclerc, pilota nel FIA GT1 World Championship e l’esperto pilota GT Lukas Lichtner-Hoyer.

Ma sono stati i veterani del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo a rendere la gara competitiva come sempre. Essendo finito sul podio in tutte e tre le gare, Cédric Leimer è riuscito a mantenere la testa della classifica dei piloti Pro-Am distanziando Zucchi di cinque punti, mentre Babini ha incrementato il suo vantaggio in classifica Piloti Pro collezionando un totale di 34 punti.

Tweraser è risalito al terzo posto nella classifica Piloti Pro- Am a seguito della sua doppia vittoria, mentre la Gravity-Charouz Racing è ora terza nella classifica a squadre e si trasferirà a Spa-Francorchamps per il prossimo weekend di gara, sperando di mantenere il proprio stato di forma.

“Nessuno di noi due ha mai corso a Spa-Francorchamps in passato,” ha dichiarato Sladecka. “Utilizzeremo un simulatore di Formula Uno per conoscere il tracciato e prepararci. Per noi le prove libere in Belgio saranno fondamentali.”

Qualifiche

Babini ha avuto un fantastico avvio guadagnando la pole position a bordo della vettura Super Trofeo #22 con il tempo di 2:12.746. Ad affiancarlo in prima fila è stato C. Leimer del team Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter, che ha dato mostra di un ottimo stato di forma con il tempo di 2:13.697.

I due piloti ai vertici della classifica Piloti Pro-Am, l’italiano Zucchi e lo svizzero C. Leimer, hanno cominciato la Gara uno affiancati davanti al duo olandese formato da Peter Kox e Nico Pronk.

Gara sette

I piloti in pole position hanno dovuto ingaggiare una lotta senza quartiere al fine di vincere la gara d’apertura di sabato. Zucchi ha avuto una fase iniziale travagliata ed è stato sorpassato da C. Leimer e da Eugenio Amos del team Touringauto alla fine del secondo giro. I due si sono dati battaglia per il comando della corsa conclusasi con il sorpasso di Amos ai danni del suo rivale nella classifica Pro-Am dopo cinque giri, mentre alle loro spalle Filip Sladecka scalzava Zucchi dal terzo posto.

Le carte si sono rimescolate durante la sosta ai box, quando sia C. Leimer che Amos hanno ricevuto una penalità di stop and go per essere ripartiti prematuramente al cambio pilota. Zucchi ha passato il volante della vettura #22 a Babini che ha iniziato il suo attacco andando in testa proprio mentre C. Leimer e Amos scontavano le loro penalità. Nell’altra vettura del team Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. Gianluca Carboni chiudeva secondo, davanti a C. Leimer.

“È stata una gara difficile: ho faticato a guadagnare posizioni,” ha dichiarato Babini. “Matteo ha perso alcune posizioni all’inizio, ma è stato possible recuperare nella seconda parte della gara.”

Gara otto

Sladecka e Tweraser si sono cimentati in una guida estremamente veloce cogliendo la prima vittoria del team Gravity-Charouz Racing al Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo. In pole position per la seconda gara di fila, Zucchi è scivolato al sesto posto dopo un testa coda al terzo giro, regalando il comando ad Amos, autore di una partenza spettacolare che dal quarto posto lo ha portato in testa alla corsa.

Alle spalle di Amos, Sladecka, che era partito dal quinto posto in griglia, è riuscito a portarsi in seconda posizione davanti a C. Leimer. Le posizioni si sono tuttavia invertite nuovamente ai box durante la sostituzione del pilota, con un C. Leimer molto determinato in un sorpasso ai danni di Tweraser. Infine è stato tuttavia il pilota austriaco ad avere la meglio di entrambi i rivali assumendo il comando a due giri dalla fine.

“Questa è la nostra prima vittoria,” ha esclamato Tweraser. “È stata una gara bellissima: all’inizio eravamo quinti e siamo riusciti a vincere lo stesso. La vettura è andata bene e noi non abbiamo commesso errori.”

Gara nove

La vettura #77 del team Gravity-Charouz Racing è riuscita a collezionare due vittorie nella gara finale di domenica, nonostante una pessima partenza in condizioni di bagnato. Il concorrente austriaco Tweraser è finito dalla prima alla quarta posizione nel giro iniziale, ma si è poi aperto la strada attraverso il gruppo sorpassando due piloti prima di effettuare il cambio con Sladecka.

Lo slovacco è uscito dalla pitlane in terza posizione e mentre Zucchi usciva di scena, Sladecka ha ripreso C. Leimer per andare in testa alla corsa con Amos alle spalle, avendo anche lui passato il pilota svizzero.

“È stato il nostro weekend migliore finora,” ha dichiarato Tweraser. “A Silverstone abbiamo acquistato velocità e siamo migliorati costantemente. Con un compagno di squadra di questo spessore possiamo puntare a ottimi risultati. Tenteremo di vincere ancora a Spa.”

Il Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo 2011 riprenderà a Spa-Francorchamps, Belgio, dal 28 al 30 luglio 2011.

Sladecka And Tweraser Enjoy Strong French Connection

Gravity-Charouz Racing experienced its strongest Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo weekend at Paul Ricard HTTT, France, on 15-17 July 2011, with pairing Gerhard Tweraser and Filip Sladecka securing two deserved race victories.

The pairing won race two and three of the weekend to earn the largest points haul as they left the South of France, after Fabio Babini and Matteo Zucchi claimed a lights-to-flag victory in Saturday’s opening race.

The grid was further strengthend at Paul Ricard HTTT with new faces joining the series including FIA GT1 World Championship racer Antoine Leclerc and experienced GT racer Lukas Lichtner-Hoyer.

But the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo veterans ensured the racing was as competitive as ever. Podium finishes in all three races kept Cédric Leimer top of the Pro-Am Drivers' Standings, with Zucchi seven points behind, while Babini's lead of the Pro Drivers' Championship has increased to 34 points.

Tweraser has climbed to third in the Pro-Am Drivers' Standings following his double win, while Gravity-Charouz Racing is now third in the Teams' Standings and will travel to the next race weekend at Spa-Francorchamps hoping to continue its form.

“Neither of us have driven at Spa-Francorchamps before,” said Sladecka. “We will use a Formula One simulator to learn the track and try to prepare. Free practice will be very important for us in Belgium.”

Qualifying
Babini got his weekend off to a flying start, securing pole position for the #22 Super Trofeo entry in qualifying with a time of 2:12.746. Joining them on the front row was in-form Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter driver C. Leimer, with a time of 2:13.697.

The Pro-Am Standings' top two drivers, Italian Zucchi and Swiss pilot C. Leimer, started alongside each other in race one, ahead of the Dutch duo of Peter Kox and Nico Pronk.

Round seven
The pole-sitters claimed a hard-fought win in Saturday's opening race. Zucchi found the early-going difficult, and was overtaken by C. Leimer and Touringauto's Eugenio Amos by the end of lap two. The two battled for the lead, with Amos overtaking his Swiss Pro-Am rival after five laps, while behind them Sladecka overtook Zucchi for third.

The pack shuffled during the pit window, with both C. Leimer and Amos receiving stop and go penalties for ending their pit-stops prematurely. Zucchi handed the #22 car over to Babini who began to charge towards the front, moving into the lead when C. Leimer and Amos took their penalties. In the sister Autocarrozeria Imperiale S.R.L. car.Gianluca Carboni finished second, ahead of C. Leimer.

“It was a difficult race: difficult to improve position,” said Babini. “Matteo lost some places at the beginning but it was possible to close the gap in the second part of the race.”

Round eight
Sladecka and Tweraser produced a strong drive to take the Gravity-Charouz Racing's first victory in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo. Pole-sitter for the second race in a row, Zucchi slipped down to sixth after a spin on lap three, handing the lead to Amos who made a spectacular start climbing from fourth to first.

Behind Amos was Sladecka, who'd risen to second from fifth place ahead of C. Leimer in third. Post driver change, Tweraser emerged in third position after C. Leimer overtook him during his pit-stop, producing a determined drive. The Austrian racer passed both drivers ahead with two laps remaining to take the victory.

“It’s the first win for us,” exclaimed Tweraser. “It was a wonderful race: we started fifth and managed to take the win. The car was good and we didn’t make any mistakes.”

Round nine
Gravity-Charouz Racing's #77 entry made it a double win in Sunday’s final race, despite a poor start in the rain. Austrian racer Tweraser dropped from first to fourth position in the opening lap, but worked his way back through the field, passing two drivers before swapping with Sladecka.

The Slovakian emerged from the pits in third, but when race leader Zucchi dropped out of contention, Sladecka overtook C. Leimer to take the lead and the win, with Amos in second after he also passed the Swiss driver.

“It’s been the best weekend,” said Tweraser. “The speed was there at Silverstone and we have just got better and better. With a fantastic team-mate I know we can both push for good results. We will try again for the win at Spa.”

Tweraser and Sladecka Make It A Double

Gerhard Tweraser and Filip Sladecka made it two wins in a row after claiming victory in round nine of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo during its visit to Paul Ricard HTTT, France, on 17 July 2011.

The Gravity-Charouz Racing duo were on pole for the race, but were made to battle for the win after dropping to fourth on the opening lap. Tweraser fought back up to second place before handing over to Sladecka. He then lost one position following the driver change but managed to head back through the field to triumph.

Finishing behind the #77 Gravity-Charouz Racing car were Eugenio Amos and Cedric Leimer, who claimed second and third.

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo next visits Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on 28-30 July 2011.

“It’s been the best weekend,” said Tweraser. “The speed was there at Silverstone and we have just got better and better. With a fantastic team-mate I know we can both push for good results. We will try again for the win at Spa.”

“Neither of us have driven at Spa-Francorchamps before,” added Sladecka. “We will use a Formula One simulator to learn the track and try and prepare. Free practice will be very important for us in Belgium.”

Le Gare sette e otto del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo hanno avuto luogo sul circuito di Paul Ricard HTTT il 16 luglio 2011 e hanno avuto come momento culminante la prima vittoria stagionale del team Gravity-Charouz Racing. Fabio Babini ha vissuto un altro giorno di trionfo, rafforzando la sua ledership nella classifica Piloti Pro con una vittoria nella gara d’apertura.

Dopo una buona prestazione durante la sessione di qualifica di venerdì, i piloti del team Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. Babini e Zucchi, che partivano dalla prima linea, hanno conquistato la vittoria nella Gara sette, ma hanno dovuto lottare per il loro settimo trionfo. Alla fine del terzo giro Zucchi è retrocesso al terzo posto dopo essere stato sorpassato dal talento svizzero Cédric Leimer e dal campione Piloti Pro-Am 2010 Eugenio Amos.

Pochi minuti dopo è stato lo stesso Amos a prendere il comando sorpassando Leimer dopo aver tallonato il pilota del team Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter. Amos, del team Touringauto, è rimasto in testa fino alla sosta ai box, quando sia lui che C. Leimer hanno dovuto scontare una penalità di due secondi di stop and go per essere ripartiti prematuramente dai pitstop.

Questo ha spianato la strada all’attacco del campione Piloti Pro 2009 Babini alla guida della vettura #22 del team Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. Quando C. Leimer ha ricevuto la sua penalità durante il dodicesimo giro, Babini ha preso la testa della corsa e si è lanciato verso la bandiera a scacchi.

“Cédric Leimer era molto veloce qui ed è stato difficile sorpassarlo," ha dichiarato Babini. "Mi dispiace per la penalità, ma arrivare primi e secondi è molto positivo per il campionato di Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L.”

Al secondo posto si è piazzato il duo composto da Riccardo Ragazzi e Gianluca Carboni, risaliti dalla settima posizione in griglia grazie a una prestazione notevole, mentre C. Leimer si è guadagnato il podio nonostante la penalità.

La seconda gara della giornata non è stata meno emozionante con Zucchi che ha perso la pole position al secondo giro della gara a seguito di un testacoda. Questo ha regalato il comando della corsa ad Amos, autore di un’ottima partenza dalla quarta posizione con Filip Sladecka e C. Leimer al suo inseguimento.

Il trio ha mantenuto le posizioni fino alla sosta ai box durante il settimo giro, quando C. Leimer ha passato Gerhard Tweraser, il compagno di squadra di Sladecka, risalendo al secondo posto. Il pilota svizzero ha lottato con Amos per la prima posizione, senza tuttavia essere in grado di passare l’uomo della Touringauto e subendo anche l’attacco di Tweraser alle spalle.

L’austriaco ne ha approfittato e ha sorpassato C. Leimer a tre giri dalla fine prima di effettuare una fantastica manovra di sorpasso ai danni di Amos, portando così la vettura #77 del team Gravity-Charouz Racing in testa al gruppo fino alla bandiera a scacchi.

“Per noi è la prima vittoria,” ha esclamato Tweraser. “È stata una gara fantastica: siamo partiti in quinta posizione e siamo riusciti a vincere. La vettura è andata bene e non non abbiamo commesso errori.”

“Sono rimasto bloccato dietro ad [Eugenio] Amos, ma la vettura si è comportata in maniera eccellente,” ha aggiunto Sladecka. “Abbiamo cambiato il set-up dopo Silverstone ed è stato decisamente una scelta azzeccata.”

Con questo podio C. Leimer è riuscito a mantenere la testa della classifica dei Piloti Pro-Am, con tre punti di vantaggio su Zucchi, mentre Babini guida la classifica Piloti Pro con 31 punti.

La Gara nove del Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo avrà luogo domenica 17 luglio alle ore 13:25 (ora locale).

Gravity Raises Its Game

Rounds seven and eight of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo took place at Paul Ricard HTTT, France, on 16 July 2011, with a maiden win of the season for Gravity-Charouz Racing the highlight. Fabio Babini enjoyed another victorious day, increasing his lead in the Pro Drivers’ Standings with a victory in the opening race.

Fresh from their strong performance in Friday's qualifying session, Imperiale pole-sitters Babini and Matteo Zucchi were made to fight for their round seven triumph. By the end of lap three, Zucchi was running in third after being overtaken by talented Swiss driver Cédric Leimer and 2010 Pro-Am Drivers’ Champion Eugenio Amos.

Minutes later Amos took the lead, overtaking recent race winner C. Leimer after a period of sustained pressure on the Autovitesse Garage R. Affolter driver. Touringauto's Amos maintained his lead until the pit window, when both he and C. Leimer were handed a two-second stop and go penalty for ending their respective pit-stops prematurely.

This paved the way for 2009 Pro Drivers’ Champion Babini, now in control of the #22 Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.L.R. entry, to charge to the front. When C. Leimer took his penalty on lap 12, Babini took the lead, holding on for the chequered flag.

“Cédric Leimer was fast here and he was difficult for me to overtake," said Babini. "I’m sorry for his penalty, but a first and second for Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. is very good for the championship.”

In second was the pairing of Riccardo Ragazzi and Gianluca Carboni who climbed from seventh on the grid, while C. Leimer joined them on the podium despite his penalty.

The second race of the day was an equally exciting affair, with Zucchi losing first place on the second lap after a spin. This gave the lead to Amos, who made a great start from fourth place, with Filip Sladecka and C. Leimer in pursuit.

The trio maintained position until the pit window with C. Leimer passing Sladecka's co-pilot Gerhard Tweraser to take second. The Swiss driver battled Amos for first but was unable to overtake the young Italian, leaving him open to Tweraser behind.

The Austrian took advantage to pass C. Leimer with three laps to go, before a fantastic overtaking manoeuvre to pass Amos gave the #77 Gravity-Charouz Racing car the lead, which Tweraser maintained to the chequered flag.

“It’s the first win for us,” exclaimed Tweraser. “It was a wonderful race: we started fifth and managed to take the win. The car was good and we didn’t make any mistakes.”

“I got stuck behind [Eugenio] Amos but the car was really excellent,” added Sladecka. “We changed the set-up after Silverstone and that was definitely the right step for us.”

C. Leimer's podium finish returns him to the top of the Pro-Am Drivers’ Championship after he lost the lead in round seven, while Babini's lead of the Pro Drivers' Standings now stands at 31 points.

Gravity-Charouz Racing Secures First Win Of The Season

Gravity-Charouz Racing took its maiden win of the 2011 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo season thanks to a sublime drive by Filip Sladecka and Gerhard Tweraser in round eight at Paul Ricard HTTT, France, on 16 July 2011.

Slovakian Sladecka started the race fifth on the grid, but quickly climbed to third by the end of lap one after passing both Cedric Leimer and Riccardo Ragazzi. Minutes later he'd risen a further place after the #22 car of Matteo Zucchi span off the track, before handing over to team-mate Gerhard Tweraser in lap seven. After all drivers had visited the pitlane, the #77 Gravity-Charouz Racing car was in third, with Amos still leading and C. Leimer second, having improved his position.

Two laps from the end of the race, Tweraser charged into the lead for the win, overtaking both Amos and C. Leimer, who finished second and third respectively. Elsewhere, Reiter's Peter Kox finished top of the Pro Drivers courtesy of a fourth-place finish, with Pro Drivers' Standings leader Fabio Babini finishing fifth.

Babini And Zucchi Win Race One To Lead Both Standings

Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. pilots Fabio Babini and Zucchi claimed victory in the opening Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race at Paul Ricard HTTT, France, on 16 July 2011.

The duo, who started on pole, dropped as far back as fifth place during the race, but after Zucchi handed over to Babini during an efficient pit-stop on lap seven, the #22 car climbed back through the field.

The result means they now both lead their respective drivers’ standings, with Babini maintaining his lead of the Pro Drivers’ Championship while Zucchi now tops the Pro-Am Championship, overtaking Cédric Leimer in the points.

Their Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. team-mates Riccardo Ragazzi and Gianluca Carboni, who put in excellent performances, claimed a second-place finish after starting the race in seventh position.

A stop and go penalty didn’t prevent Cédric Leimer joining them on the podium. Leimer was forced to revisit the pitlane four laps from the end of the 40-minute race following a pit-stop violation, but still managed to secure third ahead of Touringauto’s Eugenio Amos.

“It was a difficult race: difficult to improve position,” said Babini. “Matteo lost some places at the beginning but it was possible to close the gap in the second part of the race.

“Cédric Leimer was fast here and he was difficult for me to overtake. I’m sorry for his penalty, but a first and second for Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. is very good for the championship.”

Round eight of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will take place this afternoon at 17:45 CET.

I piloti italiani Fabio Babini e Matteo Zucchi hanno conquistato la seconda pole della stagione 2011 nel Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo sul circuito di Paul Ricard HTTT, Francia, il 15 luglio 2011.

Nonostante la vettura Super Trofeo #77 di Gerhard Tweraser e di Filip Sladecka avesse dominato segnando i tempi migliori nella prima metà della sessione, il duo è stato battuto dal campione Pro-Am 2010 Eugenio Amos a dieci minuti dalla fine.

Solo tre minuti dopo il pilota Babini dell’Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. ha affrontato il circuito francese segnando il miglior tempo di 2:12.746, rimasto invariato fino alla fine della sessione di trenta minuti e che è valso alla vettura #22 la pole position nella prima delle tre gare del fine settimana.

Cédric Leimer, attuale leader della classifica Pro-Am 2011, è sempre stato tra i piloti più veloci e ha segnato il tempo di 2:13.697 affiancando così la vettura #22 in prima fila.

Babini And Zucchi Claim Second Lamborghini Pole

Italian drivers Fabio Babini and Matteo Zucchi secured their second pole position of 2011 in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo at Paul Ricard HTTT, France, on 15 July 2011.

Despite the #77 Super Trofeo race car of Gerhard Tweraser and Filip Sladecka topping the timesheets for the first half of the qualifying session, the duo was beaten by returning 2010 Pro-Am Champion Eugenio Amos with ten minutes remaining.

Just three minutes later Autocarrozzeria Imperiale S.R.L. driver Babini charged around the French circuit to set an impressive lap time of 2:12.746, which remained fastest until the end of the 30-minute session, securing the #22 pole position for the first of the weekend’s three races.

Current leader of the 2011 Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings, Cédric Leimer, was consistently amongst the fastest drivers and set a lap time of 2:13.697 to place him alongside the #22 on the front row.

Reiter drivers Peter Kox and Nico Pronk, who were quickest in this morning’s free practice session, secured a third-place start after setting a fastest lap time of 2:13.781. They will be joined on the second row by Touringauto’s Amos, who set a best time of 2:14.080.

Gravity-Charouz Racing drivers Tweraser and Sladecka’s fastest time of 2:14.276 was enough to put them fifth on the grid alongside Automobili Lamborghini guest drivers Antoine Leclerc and Mario Fasanetto in the #2 VIP car.

Round seven of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will take place at 12:10 (CET) on Saturday 16 July 2011.

Babini And Zucchi On Pole In France

Fabio Babini and Matteo Zucchi will line up in pole position for the seventh round of the 2011 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, which takes place at Paul Ricard HTTT, France, on 16 July 2011.

The Italian pairing topped the time sheets with a fastest lap time of 2:12.746 with less than eight minutes left of the clock, and remained there until the end of the session.

Alongside will be Swiss pilot Cédric Leimer in the #63, who posted a fastest lap time of 2:13.697, with Reiter drivers Peter Kox and Nico Pronk setting the third fastest lap time of 2:13.781 to put the #76 on the second row.

Italian Pro-Am driver Eugenio Amos will sit alongside the #76 in his #69 Lamborghini Super Trofeo race car after a fastest lap time of 2:14.080.
